The Department of Geophysics has successfully completed the glorious fifty years in 1999 and the Golden Jubilee Celebrations (1949-1999); though belated, were held in the first week of November, 2003.
The department has also organized twelve national/ international seminars/ symposia/ workshops and the summer schools in different domains of time and subject.
National symposium on “Developments in Geophysical Sciences in India” was held in 2003.
National symposium on “Earthquake Processes and Seismic Hazards (EPSH)” was held in 2005.
A DST sponsored Group Monitoring Workshop on climate change was organized in December 2006.
The annual summit of Indian Geophysical Union was held in the Department of Geophysics in Nov, 2008 jointly organized by Department of Geophysics, Banaras Hindu University, Varanasi; Oil and Natural Gas Corporation, Dehra Dun and National Geophysical Research Institute, Hyderabad.
World meteorological day was celebrated, as always, on 23rd March 2009 & 2010.
The department is soon to celebrate its Diamond Jubilee Year in which it is planned to organize the international diamond jubilee alumni meet (1949-2009) and International Conference on Geophysical Sciences, Energy, Climate change and Evolution of human society in December 2010.
